The ICLN is a non-partisan and entirely independent network of Catholics in elected office that have the desire to integrate Christian faith and principles with their political responsibilities.
Participation presupposes a visible Catholic profile that is reflected in the relevant individual voting record and public statements. Lawmakers, Church representatives and lay experts are invited ad personam.
We live in turbulent times where the need for unity amongst Catholics is greater than ever. Annual meetings are designed to encourage, support and offer fellowship and formation to Catholics in elected office from around the world, whether they be local or national legislators or government ministers.
When so many religious and moral values are under attack from various forms of legislation, in a climate where faith is so often separated from public life, this network is highly valuable and necessary.
The ICLN has the following aims:
- To act as an informal worldwide network of practicing Catholics in elected office – supported by a select group of Church representatives and lay experts;
- To provide a platform to exchange information and ideas in order to deal effectively with the critical (moral and social) issues of our time;
- To offer a permanent formation program and spiritual guidance for Catholic politicians.
