Over the past six years, we have seen the tremendous benefits of bringing together dedicated Catholics from all continents holding political office. Shared experience, formation and friendship have led to much good.
In recent years, the targeted persecution of Christians in the Middle East, Africa and Asia has further increased and claims countless new victims every day, whilst most of our political leaders ignore their plight. The ICLN seeks to use its influents to help those Christians most in need.
Mass migration between wealthy and developing countries around the globe is also having a profound impact on our societies and the root causes and solutions need to be identified. ICLN experts have come forward with concrete proposals to deal with this burning issue.
There seems also to have been a concerted push on all continents to legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia, further undermining the dignity of life, which also continues to be gravely threatened in the mother’s womb, where well-funded efforts are underway to construe an international “right to abortion”. Increasingly, the ICLN is able to mobilize politicians worldwide in defense of life.
These are some of the areas that need our urgent attention and where in many cases the ICLN has already been successfully engaged over the past years, and continues to do so.
The main purpose of the ICLN being formation and fellowship for Catholic politicians, our efforts continue to focus on education and networking. ICLN participants have been able to engage actively because of the contacts they have made during the annual meetings in Italy, as well as through the formation received in our programs.
